The Earth is Our Home
Workshop on global warming, climate and shared responsibility
Focus area: Global warming । Age: 10–14 । SDG 13 – Climate action
Description:
“Earth is our home” introduces children to global warming in a safe, understandable and action-oriented way. Children learn about weather, climate, CO₂, ice, oceans, animals – and how small actions in everyday life can make a big difference.
The workshop develops climate responsibility, curiosity and care for our planet.
Creative Practical Activity
Children make a “Climate Scene in a Box” – a small 3D model that shows the effects of global warming: melting ice, changing animals, sea rise or heat waves. The focus is on understanding and communicating the problem creatively.
- Create mini worlds in a cardboard box (icescape, climate-friendly city, marine environment)
- Use cotton as ice, blue paper as water, cork as trees
- Short dialogue: What happens to the Earth when the temperature rises?
Digital Activity
Children use **Microsoft Designer** to create a “Save the Earth” poster that displays messages about climate action: less waste, plant a tree, protect the ocean, turn off the lights, cycle more, etc.
- Choose a theme: polar bears, oceans, forests, weather, energy
- Add slogans: “The Earth needs YOU”, “Keep the temperature down”, “Think green”
- Save and print the poster
