My Voice Counts

Workshop on safety, boundaries and children's rights

Focus area: Child abuse। Age: 4–14 । SDG 16.2 – Stop abuse

Description:

“My Voice Counts” is about safety, boundaries and knowing your rights. Through creative exercises and storytelling, children learn to recognize what is safe and unsafe, who they can trust and how to speak up.

The workshop emphasizes safety, trust-building and empowerment in an age-appropriate format.

Creative Practical Activity

Children create “Safety Shields” from lunch boxes, cardboard and fabric, illustrating safe people, safe places and symbolic boundaries. The activities combine play and reflection.

  • Build and decorate a personal safety shield
  • Practice sentences such as: “Stop”, “No thanks”, “I want help” in safe role-play
  • Reflection exercise: Who is my safe adult?

Digital Activity

Children use **Book Creator** to create their own little digital story about safety and boundaries. They combine images, texts and audio, and create a personal safety storybook that can be shared with parents.

  • Intro to Book Creator: add images, text and record voice
  • Children compose a short story with their safety shield as the central figure
  • Example: “When I feel unsafe, I call…”

Tip: Make sure to have a safe, adult-supported setting when the topic is brought up; the workshop is designed to be age-sensitive.
