This 5-day summer camp for kids targets age group 5 to 10 and essentially focuses on helping the kids understand the basics of pencil sketching and oil painting. 

Furthermore, they understand the difference between various mediums of art, the basic mathematics and science behind art and are also able to apply their learnings to make their own artwork.

So there will be a combination of instructor suggested artwork and artwork chosen by the students themselves.

5-day art workshop for kids
Age: 5 to 10
WEEKS: 26 & 31
Timings: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Venue: Sønderborg International School
FEES: DKK 850/week/student (fees includes art material kit which will be provided to the kids on the first day)

COURSE STRUCTURE:
Students will:
• Be introduced to both pencil sketching and oil painting
• Learn to color appropriately using pencils on coloring worksheets
• Learn to draw on art paper and then paint on the same
• Learn to draw and paint joining hands, animals and birds
• Learn to use canvas to paint, identify mistakes and correct, finalize their paintings
• Get to choose their own subjects to paint on the canvas
By the end of the 5-day workshop students would have completed:
• 2 coloring worksheets
• 5 art papers – drawing and painting (joining hands, animals, birds)
• 2 20×20 cm canvas oil paintings

Aside from the above materials students will be provided the following items:
• Cold-pressed raw Linseed oil for mixing oil colors
• Washing liquid and jars for cleaning the brushes and palette
• Hand wash
Instructions to parents:
• There will be a 15 min break and students will be provided fruits. However, parents may choose to send lunch/snack boxes, if required
• The SIS Art Room provides aprons for the children to wear while painting. Students may bring their own if they want
• Please ensure that the children are wearing comfortable, preferably old clothing. Even though aprons will be provided, there are chances that the children accidentally strain their clothing with oil paint, which may be a challenge to wash later

Week 31 Day 1 summary of events

(4) Activity 3 they painted the panda with oil colors (on thick paper) – So they understood how to work with thick (180 gsm) paper

(5) Activity 4 they painted the first coat of oil colors (blue, purple, yellow & brown) on 2 canvases each (20 x 20 cm) They have selected two nature painting ideas that they will continue to work with in the coming days

(2) Activity 2 children learnt how to use various pencil types and learnt to draw an Elephant

(3) Activity 3 they painted the Elephant with oil colors (on 180 gsm paper)

(4) Activity 4 children worked on their 1st 20 x 20 cm canvas doing the 2nd coat and they have completed their first oil on canvas painting 🙂

(1) Activity 1 was coloring worksheet of Frida Kahlo

(2) Activity 2 children learnt how to use various pencil types and learnt to draw an Owl

(3) Activity 3 they painted the owl with oil colors (on 180 gsm paper)

(4) Activity 4 children worked on their 2nd 20 x 20 cm canvas oil on canvas painting today, coming close to completion already;)

Week 31 Day 4 summary of events 

(1) Activity 1 was coloring worksheet of Junko Tabei

(2) Activity 2 children learnt how to use various pencil types and learnt to draw swans

(3) Activity 3 they painted these swans with oil colors (on 180 gsm paper)

(4) Activity 4 children finished their 2nd 20 x 20 cm canvas painting today 🙂 They have chosen to work on 3rd painting

Week 31 Day 5 summary of events 

(1) Activity 1 children learnt how to use various pencil types and learnt to draw a lion

(2) Activity 2 they painted the lion with oil colors (on 180 gsm paper)

(3) Activity 3 children finished their 3rd 20 x 20 cm canvas today 🙂

(4) We finished our summer camp with some cakes and fun! 🙂

(2) Activity 2 children learnt how to use various pencil types and learnt to draw human hands

(3) Activity 3 they painted these hands with oil colors (on 180 gsm paper). They also learnt about different skin tones and diversity through this exercise

(4) Activity 4 children worked on their 2nd 20 x 20 cm canvas today:)

Week 26 Day 5 summary of events 

(1) Activity 1 was coloring worksheet of Serena Williams

(2) Activity 2 children learnt how to use various pencil types and learnt to draw swans. They drew without the help of circles first and then repeated the same with the help of circles. They understood how circles could make the drawing easier

(3) Activity 3 they painted these swans with oil colors (on 180 gsm paper).

(4) Activity 4 children worked on their 2nd 20 x 20 cm canvas today and finished the same 🙂
